At Lumi Dental, IV sedation is administered by a qualified sedationist in our purpose-built suite with continuous monitoring. This is not general anaesthesia � you breathe independently throughout and remain in a state of conscious sedation where you can respond if needed, but feel no pain or distress.
Before your appointment, we will conduct a free consultation to review your medical history and confirm suitability. On the day, the sedationist places a small cannula and administers the medication while monitoring your vitals continuously. Your dentist then carries out the treatment while you rest. The level of sedation can be adjusted throughout for your comfort. Most patients describe the experience as feeling like they slept through the whole thing. Our facility is fully ANZCA PG09(G) compliant. You will need a responsible adult to take you home.
