Lumi Dental was built by a dentist who wanted to do things differently. Independent, unhurried, and genuinely invested in the people who walk through the door.
Outside the practice, James boulders - drawn to it equally for the problem-solving, the physical challenge, and the people you meet on the wall. He also values a long dinner with close friends, good food, and the kind of conversation that goes somewhere. Food and culture have always been central to how he connects with people, which probably explains why he ended up in dentistry. At home, he is most himself with his wife and kids. He spent over a decade working across practices in Queensland and New South Wales before deciding to build something of his own. Partly because he had clear ideas about how a practice should feel. Partly because he saw what was missing in the area. Partly because he wanted to build something that was genuinely his. Lumi Dental is the result. In the clinic, James works across general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry, with advanced training in implants and clear aligner therapy. He has a particular interest in patients who have been putting off dental care - whether from anxiety, cost, or just life getting in the way. He is also part of the General Dental Residency programme, mentoring dentists who are early in their careers.
He founded Lumi Dental at Melrose Central because he believed the communities sitting between the CBD and Western Sydney deserved a practice built on genuine price transparency, real time with their dentist, and care designed around a long-term relationship - not a number in a queue.
