Dental anxiety affects up to 1 in 6 Australian adults. For some, it's a mild unease. For others, it's a genuine phobia that has kept them away from the dentist for years — sometimes decades. Whatever your experience, it's valid, and we take it seriously.
At Lumi Dental, we've built our practice from the ground up with anxious patients in mind. From the way we communicate, to the pace of your appointments, to the calming environment of our clinic — everything is designed to help you feel safe and in control.
Dr James Tran has a particular interest in treating nervous patients and has trained in IV sedation dentistry to offer a complete spectrum of anxiety management options. Whether you need a gentle, unhurried check-up or full sedation for complex treatment, we'll find the right approach for you.
We explain every step before we do it. You'll always know what's happening, why, and how much it costs — before anything starts.
We never rush. If you need to pause, take a break or ask questions mid-treatment, that's completely fine. You're in control at all times.
For patients who need extra support, we offer IV sedation dentistry administered by a qualified sedationist. Sleep through your treatment comfortably.
Our clinic was designed to feel more like a wellness space than a clinical environment. Warm lighting, thoughtful interiors, and noise-cancelling headphones available.
Absolutely not. Many of our patients come to us after long gaps. We see it all the time and our only concern is helping you move forward comfortably, not looking backwards.
We'll create a staged treatment plan so you can address things at a pace that works for you. With IV sedation, multiple treatments can often be completed in a single visit if you prefer.
Of course. You're welcome to bring a friend or family member to your appointment. They can sit with you in the treatment room if that helps you feel more comfortable.
Your first visit is a no-pressure conversation. We'll listen to your concerns, do a gentle examination (only what you're comfortable with), take any necessary x-rays, and discuss your options. No treatment on the first visit unless you want it.
Your first visit including exam, x-rays and treatment plan is $149. No hidden fees, no surprises. Health fund rebates may apply.
Yes. Our IV sedation is administered by a qualified sedationist in compliance with ANZCA PG09(G) guidelines, with full monitoring throughout. You can learn more on our IV Sedation Dentistry page.
