Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of information that is inaccurate or out of date, make a complaint if you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, and withdraw consent for us to use your information for marketing purposes. We use your personal information to provide dental treatment and healthcare services, manage appointments and recall reminders, process payments and health fund claims, comply with legal and regulatory obligations including AHPRA requirements, communicate with other treating practitioners with your consent, and improve the quality of care we provide. We may also use your contact details to send appointment reminders and practice updates. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.

Disclosure of your information

We may disclose your personal information to other treating healthcare providers involved in your care, health funds and Medicare for the purpose of processing claims, pathology and radiology providers, dental laboratories, our software and technology providers under strict confidentiality obligations, and as required by law including to regulatory bodies such as AHPRA. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not disclose your information overseas unless required for specialist referral with your consent.

Health information and sensitive data

Your dental and medical records are health information and are treated as sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We only collect, use and disclose your health information with your consent, or as otherwise permitted by law. Your records are stored securely and access is restricted to authorised clinical and administrative staff involved in your care.

Data security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We use secure cloud-based practice management software, encrypted data transmission, access controls and regular security reviews. Your dental records are retained for a minimum of 7 years from the date of last treatment, or for children until they reach 25 years of age, in accordance with applicable laws.

Website and cookies

Our website may collect non-identifying information such as browser type, pages visited and referring sites for analytical purposes. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site.
